A wet-floor cone is not the whole story
Quick answer
A cone can show that someone noticed a condition. It does not automatically prove the floor was safe, or that a claim is finished.
What a cone actually is
A cone or sign is a piece of evidence about notice and placement. It is not a legal conclusion. Whether it was in the walking path, how long the liquid had been there, and whether the lighting made the sign readable are separate facts.
Photograph the cone and the floor
Wide shot first: aisle, lighting, and where the cone sat relative to the spill. Then the floor surface and the soles of the shoes if they still show the liquid. If staff mop after you fall, the first photos are the ones that cannot be recreated.
Ask for the video this week
Stores often cycle camera storage quickly. A polite written request to the manager and, later, to counsel beats waiting for “the insurance person to call back.”
